Robotics and Coding in the Classroom
This session is meant to show teachers that anyone can code and how important coding should be in your classroom.  It will also introduce a variety of different robots that teachers can use to teach their students how fun it is to have their coding skills translate into something that they can guide and see in action.  Teaching students how to overcome challenges through coding and robots not only gives them the skill of learning to code but also the attitude that 21st Century learners need, the attitude that making mistakes is the way to learn!

Take Flight with Coding
This session will introduce teachers to the concept of using minidrones and coding to excite their students and add a new dimension to using robots and coding. Similar to my other session this one will focus on using Scratch type block coding (Tynker and Tickle) to control drones and complete tasks.  For the first 20 min I will introduce the concepts behind using these nimble little drones in class and how to incorporate them into your curriculum.  For the rest of the session you will have a chance to complete a task and learn, first hand, how fun and engaging these devices can be in the hands of your students.

Google Expeditions - explore the world in virtual reality!
Google Expeditions is Google's virtual reality platform for the classroom. With a basic smartphone and a 'Google Cardboard' students (and teachers) can be spirited away from the classroom to a world underwater, or see CERN's hadron collider, or visit historic buildings in England, or be transported to a royal project in Thailand....the choices are endless.

In this session, I will introduce you to Expeditions and how to get setup. Together we will experience how transformative VR can be and we will also look at how we can use Expeditions to enhance the learning experience.

Please note, it is a requirement that attendees have a fairly recent smartphone (all iPhones and most modern Android phones)  to participate in this session. There are a limited number of Cardboards available so this will be on a first come basis - although people can pair up.

Exploring the VR world with Cospaces.io and Coding
This session will introduce the site cospaces.io and how it can allow students to create their own VR worlds.  Open up a whole new way for students to express themselves and present their knowledge.  Cospaces can be used to reimagine any type of visual presentation style.  Imagine allowing students to create a poster that you can walk into and explore or having them create a 3d module of a molecule that they can view in VR?  Alone with this ability to build worlds students can also use Blockly coding skills to bring the world to life!
